Waltham Grove

The charming Berkshire village of Waltham St. Lawrence has roots as far back as Saxon times. Today, this quiet village is still a highly sought after place in which to reside. Surrounded by farm land, Waltham St. Lawrence is a haven from the bustle of city life and yet it is within reach of Reading and Maidenhead and just 20 miles from Heathrow.

Ideally suited to family living, Waltham St. Lawrence boasts a post office, two public houses, and a well regarded primary school that celebrated its centenary in 2010. Further education choices are available in nearby Marlow, Maidenhead, Reading ,Wokingham and Henley. Dating back to pre-13th Century, the Church of St. Lawrence stands as a revered historical building within the village, whilst still offering weekly services and more to residents.

Sporting and recreational activities in the village include a cricket club and a silver band that was founded in 1886, whilst further afield there are golf, boating and rowing facilities in nearby Marlow, Twyford and Henley. Shopping enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, as Waltham St. Lawrence is almost equidistant between the towns of Reading, Bracknell and Maidenhead and the sophisticated boutiques of Henley’s or Marlow’s High Streets. Whilst the village of Twyford, three miles away, has a range of shops for food and other daily necessities, the Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading features a wealth of department and high street stores, not to mention an array of bars, cafes and restaurants serving a variety of cuisines, and plentiful entertainment opportunities including both town centre and out-of -town multi-screen cinemas.

Transport links from the area are excellent; there are fast trains to London Paddington from Twyford or Reading Stations, some in just 27 minutes, ensuring the village’s suitability for commuters. The M4 and M404, leading northwards to the M40, are also easily accessible.
